Dr Deepak Das is an ex-military professional (retired Brigadier) with extensive experience in defence consultancy, leadership, operations, logistics, procurement and project management – having led defence acquisitions, procurement contracts and negotiation teams and also up to 4500 military personnel in an independent brigade. A strategic planning specialist with a Ph.D. in Business Management he has three decades of experience with the Indian Military and internationally, with the United Nations; Government of Seychelles’; European Commission and European Defence Industrial Development Programme.
He is currently based in Germany, where he works as an independent Business Strategy and Research Consultant. He is an active member of the German-Indian Business Summit (GIBS), which works to synergize the efforts of industry consortiums and government bodies of the two countries like CGI (Consulate General of India), IGCC (Indo-German Chamber of Commerce – AHK Deutsch-Indische Handelskammer), FICCI, ASSOCHAM, IBF (German-Indian Business Forum), iEF (Indian Entrepreneur’s Forum) and a plethora of similar organisations and institutions to promote Indo-German business, commerce and trade. As the independent consultant to the Government of Seychelles, he drafted the Seychelles Science Technology and Innovation Strategy and Policy (2016-25), which was approved by the Cabinet with high appreciation. He is also a Council Member of the Gerson Lehrman Group (NY, USA) and Member Talmix Consultancy Group (London, UK) and provides consultancy to various clients in areas of business strategy, technology evaluation, digital marketing and sourcing.
He has been the Head of Research and Consultancy at Asia’s leading defence management institution, the College of Defence Management, Secunderabad and hosted several international seminars and study tours to Australia, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, etc. He evolved the Combat Modelling and Simulation Architecture for the Indian Army at the Strategic, Operational and Tactical levels and trained software programmers on military logic for Project ASTROIDS (Army Strategic Operational Information Dissemination System).
