India’s First Do Tank linking Tech and Geopolitical Power

Pankaj Agarwal

Dr. Pankaj Agarwal is a cleantech expert, entrepreneur and investor with over 20 years’ experience in financing, business development and commercialization of new technologies and innovation.  His recent ventures combine innovative business models with solar PV, wind energy, energy storage and smart grids to deliver Smart Energy.  He is the founder and CEO of Panitek Power AG, an investment firm, based in Liechtenstein, Switzerland and India and active in the field of cleantech, new materials and deployment of new and sustainable technologies worldwide. In 2007 he co-founded and was the CEO of Indian Energy Limited, an India focused renewable energy IPP which listed on the London Stock Exchange (AIM) in 2009 and was acquired by an infrastructure company in 2011. He is advisor to several technology companies in Europe and North America with the mandate to bring their technologies to India.

In 2016 he was invited to join ACC-HSG Expert Panel of the Asia Connect Centre of University of St. Gallen, Switzerland. He was on the executive board of SIBF, a Lausanne based association of Swiss and Indian Industries. He is on the project monitoring committee of the National Centre for Flexible Electronics at IIT Kanpur India. He was on the scientific committee of the 3rd International Conference “UNESCO Chair in Technologies for Development: what is essential?” in Lausanne, 2015 served on the expert panel of The Climate Group and Goldman Sachs report on “Off grid distributed power in India” released in 2015. He chaired Swiss India Renewable Energy (SIREN) symposium, Lausanne, Switzerland in November 2015 and co-chaired the 1st European Green India Summit (EUGIS) held at University of Liechtenstein in May 2016.

Pankaj has a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from University of Florida, Gainesville, MBA from the Rotterdam School of Management and Bachelors in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, India. Pankaj has published over 40 papers in International Journals has contributed to books and magazines and holds 1 patent. He is regularly invited to speak at international conferences and events.

He is an advisor to “Slum Soccer” a Nagpur based NGO that works with the underprivileged using football as tool for social empowerment. He is the founder and president of India Club in Liechtenstein and initiated “India week in Liechtenstein” with the support of Indian Embassy in Bern and Liechtenstein government in 2015 which has now become an annual event.  An Indian national, he has lived, studied and worked in India, USA, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Germany and is now settled in Liechtenstein. He speaks English, French, German, Hindi and Bengali.
