SITARA drew PM’s attention to the implications of allowing IBM, an MNC, access through a so-called Centre for Excellence for AI “in partnership with GeM”. GeM is a concrete demonstration of Atmanirbharta, as it was built with domestic resources and stores highly valuable data.
Under the guise of “helping” us, Big Tech/ Big 4 companies get access to extremely valuable data which should never be shared with a foreign entity. Plus, they would be in a position to ensure that all contracts are directed straight to FOEMs with their AI algorithms, thus perpetuating Indian poverty and killing domestic industry.
The letter is here.
